Art on the Vine Announces Inaugural Residency Artist and Second Annual Exhibition in Martha’s Vineyard

Art on the Vine is pleased to announce DC-based artist and Pittsburgh native Nate Lewis as its inaugural resident. Starting in June, Nate will spend four-weeks on Martha’s Vineyard creating exclusive work that he will present at Art on the Vine’s second annual exhibition on August 13th-15th. This year’s event produced by The Agora Culture is expanding to three-days and will be held at the historic Dr. Daniel Fisher House in Edgartown, MA.

“We are proud to have Nate as the first artist to participate in our residency program. He is an example of ingenious artists who are out here on the rise but need spaces where they can continue to cultivate their practice,” said Jessica Stafford Davis, founder of Art on the Vine and The Agora Culture. “We chose Martha’s Vineyard for our residency and summer art exhibition because it is a cultural haven and melting pot. Nate will not only work on his practice but also meet and engage with a variety of culturally astute individuals in the community.”

Nate Lewis is a gifted artist who began his career as a critical care registered nurse. A self-taught artist, drawing inspiration from anatomy, physiology, disease processes and his nursing experience as a care taker of patients and their family members, he creates stunning, intricate 2-3d sculptures out of single sheets of paper that visually combines the aesthetics of drawing, sculpture, etching, embroidery, and textiles….
